Some days, I was just so tired of the screaming that I didn’t feel like I could follow through with any of the things we had talked about in our home visit with his autism specialist, Janel Preston. He is a creature of routine and habit, and I needed to be consistent, no matter how bad the outcome. It was so hard sometimes to just be consistent, but when I was, there were miraculous changes, albeit small, but they were there. I found that consistency was one of the key parts in finding change and balance in behavior. I cannot believe the leaps and bounds he has grown over the last year and a half. There was hope for change, for understanding, compassion, love, and help. I was having my own meltdowns, and with this program, I finally felt hope. I was so grateful for wonderful therapists who helped walk me through my journey, who held my hand and told me that it was going to be okay. ![]() He had a meltdown every time any of his therapists came into our home, and he screamed at his ABC class, the entire time. My son, Liam, has been in the Up To 3 program for 18 months now. Henry Vecchioni dedicated his life to Brighton Schools making a huge impact on staff and students.The following is a personal story from Kimberlee Adams, a mom whose son attended the ABC class and received early intervention services from Up to 3. Henry is named after Brighton High School Senior Class Principal Henry Vecchioni, who retired in 2019, after 28 years in the district. Henry is an Australian Shepherd who turned 5 in August of 2023. At Tot Spot, we have Henry as our therapy dog. Care will also be offered at Bullpup Club located at Maltby Intermediate School for fifth and sixth graders.īrighton has a therapy dog in each of its 9 schools. Each class is taught by an experienced, educated team consisting of a lead teacher and qualified staff.īefore/After School Programs - School age childcare, called Friendship Centers, will be offered at all Brighton elementary schools, Junior Kindergarten through fourth grade. The day includes social, emotional, physical, cognitive and language development activities as well as morning/after snack, lunch and rest time. This program has the same preschool enrichment as our 3-hour preschool program, but with an extended day of care. Preschool/Childcare Combo - Tot Spot provides a developmentally appropriate childcare program for three to five year old children. ![]() The infant/toddler rooms require a 3 full day minimum, with flexible weekly scheduling and reasonable/competitive rates. ![]() The children experience a wide range of developmentally appropriate socialization and learning opportunities while being nurtured in a safe and loving environment. Infant/Toddler - Tot Spot provides care for infants and toddlers ages six weeks through two years of age. Four year old children may attend two, three, or five days a week. Three year old children may attend two or three days a week. Students enrolled in the 4 year old classes must be four by Decemand must be potty trained. Students enrolled in the 3 year old classes must have turned three no later than Octoand must be potty trained. Each class is taught by a qualified, experienced teacher and an assistant. 3 Hour Preschool - Our Preschool Enrichment program is for three and four year old children, each session is three hours, either 9:00-12:00 or 12:30-3:30. ![]()
